In 1987, at the age of 18, I started working for attorneys and I am still in the legal field. I now have 36 years’ experience. I started off typing on a golf ball typewriter (now you know how old I am … 😊).
When we got upgraded to newer versions of typewriters, I think I used more lift-off tape than actual ink. When I first started doing dicta-typing my hands and feet could not work together. I had to write down what I heard on the tape, then copy type from my handwritten notes, but I quickly adapted and mastered the art of typing continuously with very little stops in between.
I have done everything from Insurance Claims, Third Party Claims, Medical negligence Claims, Debt Collection process from start to finish, particularly in respect of arrear levies, Litigation (High Court & Magistrate’s Court proceedings), Divorces, Criminal matters, Agreements, Property transfers, Bond cancellations. I can work under pressure and multitask.
I enjoy being Ria’s “right hand” and organising her schedule. I enjoy interacting with clients and ensuring that client’s leave satisfied with our service. It is important to me that client’s feel welcome and that we treat them well to ensure that they will return to us in future.
Everyone you speak to on the phone or interact with, whether it is a client or a debtor, may be a potential client in the future. Treating people with respect does not cost you anything.
